What is Deep Steam Carpet Cleaning
Using steam to clean carpets that are soiled, stained, or just dirty and in need of a refresh is a time-tested method to restore their appearance. In addition to giving you peace of mind, it also makes you feel refreshed and clean. Deep cleaning all your carpets will leave you feeling good about your house and have mental clarity.
Getting rid of old stains is not all there is to it. For cleaning carpets, it is extremely effective to use steam to lift out dirt, grime and gunk that cannot be seen with the naked eye and to kill dust mites. Steam cleaning and sanitizing your carpet is also an excellent way of getting rid of allergens, germs, and bacteria. In the end, you'll be able to restore your carpet to its former glory and it will smell great again.
Our Carpet Steam Cleaning Process
We offer a unique approach to carpet steam cleaning. Through the last three decades, we've honed in, twisted, turned and flipped the process upside down until it's a perfected work of art that involves eight crucial steps. By using our process, your carpets are left in the best possible condition. You can be sure that we will remove all the tough stains from your carpets and leave them looking clean and fresh.
Step #1 - Full and Complete Pre-Inspection
To begin with, the property will be thoroughly inspected before the cleaning begins. An inspection is conducted of the carpet on your property that needs to be cleaned. That way we can figure out what needs to be done.
Here's what we look for:
The amount of soiling in carpets from foot traffic in high traffic areas.
Stains on the carpet that appear to be permanent.
In the event of carpet shrinkage.
A test will also be performed to ensure that no colour will be removed from the carpet. This test is called a dye test or a colour fastness test.
Step #2 - Fibre Test
A small test is performed to determine the correct fibres in your carpet. With this information, we can determine which solution we should use when cleaning your carpet with steam cleaning. This is a vital test that must be performed to prevent any damage to your carpet. We as a company think it is not sufficient for us to rely on potentially secondary information you have been told. There will be no nasty surprises for both of us since we completed this test!
Step #3 - Power Vacuuming
During the cleaning service, we use commercial-grade vacuums to remove as much dirt and debris as possible. A household vacuum like this is not common. This is a much more powerful machine.
The reason we do this is quite simple. When it comes down to it, steam cleaning is all about water. If you combine water and dirt you create mud. And mud is bad, we all know that! An extremely thorough vacuuming is performed before we begin work to remove as much dirt as possible from your carpet. This prevents any problems from occurring during the steam cleaning process.
Step #4 - Pre-Spray and Agitate
Our carpet cleaning process uses a unique and special blend of chemicals. This is called the "pre-spray". A preconditioning agent is used for the purpose of breaking down soiled carpet areas that are covered in dirt, oils, and particles that are hard to remove. Pre-sprays are essential for areas with heavy traffic or general staining to help lift deeply embedded dirt from within the carpet.
Any stains we know won't come out easily so we use a special treatment. The same concept as a pre-spay but much more powerful for those difficult and tough stains.
After the pre-spray has been applied, we then use a mechanical agitation machine to ensure the solution we just sprayed on the carpet reaches the deepest part of the soil to assist in breaking it down even further.
Step #5 - Rinse & Extract
Moving forward, we move on to the very powerful steam cleaning phase of the process.
Our steam cleaner thoroughly cleans the carpet from the bottom to the top by using a powerful steam machine. For carpet cleaning we usually use a carpet cleaning brush or a truck-mounted system, depending on the situation. During the process of steam cleaning, boiling water is injected into the pile of the carpet, which is then discharged as hot steam at 150 psi. Your carpet will then be thoroughly cleaned of dirt, as well as oil, grime, and other stubborn substances. The dirty water is simultaneously sucked out through a dual vacuum system and extracted.
Step #6 - Post Treatment
Sometimes stains are missed during pre-treatment due to their location on the carpet. Or the stain is that deeply embedded into the carpet fibre even the steam cleaning and extraction phase did not fully remove them.
Our post-treatment aids in removing heavy-duty stains of this type. The nasty and hard-to-remove stains that need individual attention. It could be pet stains, wine stains, coffee stains, or anything else. Stains on these stubborn areas can be removed by using a stain remover. We used different types of chemicals. What chemicals we use depends on what we are dealing with.
Step #7 - Pile Realignment
The carpet fibers are more flexible when they are damp. It is therefore a perfect opportunity to realign the carpet pile to its original position. It is accomplished by using a brush which is swept over the carpet to push the piles upright.
Why should the pile be realigned? Faster Drying!
If the pile is pushed down it will take longer to dry. If it is upright, it has a small space between each pile, allowing it to breathe.
As long as the piles are aligned properly and upright, the carpet will dry properly, making it softer to walk on.
Generally when the pile is upright the chances of it becoming soiled again are far less. Soiling is a result of multiple piles adhering to each other. This is somewhat prevented when the piles are upright.
Step #8 - Industrial Air Movers
In some circumstances, the final step may be required. While deep steam carpet cleaning does a great job of extracting as much moisture as possible from the carpet, there are times that extra airflow is needed. If you leave the natural drying process to itself, the process can take a long time in the middle of winter. Likewise, in areas with restricted airflow, such as enclosed rooms with no windows and inadequate ventilation.
Upon determining that extra air flow is necessary to properly dry the carpet out, we will bring in industrial air movers to assist with the drying process. The carpets should not even be slightly damp when finished, as this is a bad thing. Drying the carpets properly is essential.
The best way to deeply clean your carpet is with steam cleaning. The combination of chemical and hot water used by our machine allows the carpet to be cleaned on an incredibly deep level-removing all dirt and debris buried deep within it. A high PSI of water sprayed into the carpet can also assist in loosening particles, which are typically difficult to remove. It is nearly impossible to replicate and get the same quality results in carpet cleaning with another method.
Steam cleaning machines can easily eliminate the majority of stains, dirt, and debris, and can even eliminate allergens. The use of a steam cleaner will make your carpets almost look like new, if not brand new. A steam cleaning should be performed on your carpet at least once every 12 months. Almost all carpet manufacturers and professional cleaners recommend this time frame. We also offer pet stain removal.
