Riverside is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Suffolk County, New York, United States. Riverside is in the Town of Southampton and owns a total area of 2.8 square miles (7.3 km2), of which 2.7 square miles (7.0 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2) is water.
Riverside is situated right across south of Riverhead. The Peconic River forms a natural boundary, separating Riverside and Riverhead. Nugent Drive, from the west, Center Drive South from the southwest, and Flanders Road from the east meets and intersects at the downtown area of Riverhead, connected to E Main Street or NY 25 by two bridges namely Center Drive to the west and Peconic Ave to the west. Bordering Riverside from the west is the adjacent Northampton, Flanders to the east, and the Westhampton Dwarf Pine Plains Preserve sitting right outside the southern border.
David A. Sarnoff Preserve at 606 Riverleigh Ave is a 2,000-acre nature preserve that mostly occupies Riverside. Ludlam Park, Riverside, Southampton is north of David A. Sarnoff Preserve. Government offices within Riverside are Suffolk County Clerk, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office Riverhead Correctional Facility, Suffolk County Surrogate's Court, Honorable Stephen Braslow. From Flanders Road then Old Quogue Road, then Brown Street, then Phillips Ave is Phillips Avenue School.
