Flanders is a hamlet and a census-designated place in Suffolk County, New York, United States. It has a land area of 11.5 sq mi (29.7 km2), and 0.2 sq mi (0.4 km2) area of water, for a total area of 11.6 square miles (30.1 km2).
It is located in the town of Southampton on the south side of the Peconic River at its mouth in Peconic Bay. Riverhead is across the river to the north. Adjacent hamlets bordering west and east are Riverside and Hampton Bays, respectively. East Quogue lies to the south.
New York State Route 27 (Sunrise Highway) to the south forms a natural border between Flanders and East Quogue. Flanders Road or NY 24 to the north is the only other main road that passes through Flanders from Riverhead interchange, entering from northwest and passing through straight towards southeast.
Attractions within the town are The Big Duck, South Hampton Town Kayak Launch, Iron Point Park, Maple Swamp County Park, Birch Creek Owl Pond County Park, Flanders County Park, Iron Point Park, Lot Lizard Canal and Tricia’s Cove Marina. Flanders Fire Department Inc is at 19 Firehouse Ln. Establishments within the town include Flanders-Northampton Volunteer, Blaze Church - Offices, Trustees, Sentry Automatic Fire Protection Inc., Hampton Deli, Flanders United Methodist Church, and Food Distribution Center - Friendship Baptist Church.
