Mount Sinai is a hamlet and census-designated place located within the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County, New York, United States. Mount Sinai Fire Department and Mount Sinai School District serve the hamlet on Long Island's North Shore. The total area of 6.4 square miles (16.6 km2) includes 6.0 square miles (15.5 km2) of land and 0.42 square miles (1.1 km2) of water, or 6.53%.
Mount Sinai is located at 40°56′19″N 73°01′07″W (40.938532, -73.018668), bordering Long Island Sound on the North Shore of Long Island. Mount Sinai is bordered by Port Jefferson to the west, Port Jefferson Station to the southwest, Coram to the south, and Miller Place to the east. Long Island Sound is to the north.
NY 25A serves and runs west-south of the hamlet and intersects with Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road and Mt Sinai-Coram Road in the center. Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road traverses towards the south covering a distance of about 1.6 miles. Mt Sinai-Coram Road starts at the southeast boundary and runs towards the northern part of the hamlet interconnecting with N Country Road. Located in between the intersection is the Heritage Park - Heritage Trust Inc.
There is a 2-mile long peninsula located on the northern side of Mount Sinai Harbor that is an active recreation area. This includes Cedar Beach. A marine sanctuary and nature preserve connects the various sections of Cedar Beach. It is also home to other parks and beaches including Cedar Beach Town Nature Preserve, Suffolk County Park Land, Chandler Preserve, Satterly Landing Park, and Sylvan Ave Park. Willow Creek Golf & Country Club - NY is at Willow Creek Golf & Country Club - NY. Mt Sinai is served by Mount Sinai Fire Department Station 1 at 746 Mt Sinai Ave. Along the NY 25A are the Sky Zone Trampoline Park, United States Postal Service, and Rose Caracappa Senior Center. Mt Sinai Congregational Church up north and Mount Sinai Muslim Center down south serves the hamlet as places of worship. Mount Sinai High School is situated right along N Country Road.
