Melville is an affluent hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Huntington in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York, in the United States. The east boundary of Nassau County lies Melville. The total area of this area is 12.1 square miles (31.3 km2), of which none is water.

Melville is located at the intersection of the Long Island Expressway (LIE) and Northern State Parkway, two of the busiest highways in the country that serve as major entry and exit points to the city. Melville is located immediately off Exit 49 of the LIE. New York State Route 110 runs through the center of Melville. It borders West Hills, South Huntington, Dix Hills, Wyandanch, Wheatley Heights, Farmingdale, Old Bethpage and Plainview.

The Katharine Gibbs School – Melville, Half Hollow Hills Central School District and South Huntington Union Free School District serve Melville. It is home to Schmitts Farm Haunt at 26 Pinelawn Rd. Parks within the hamlet are West Hills Nature Preserve up in the northwest, Pine Ridge Conservation Area in the west, Dr. Jeffrey Wenig Memorial Park right along LIE, further towards east lies the Arboretum Park, to the south is the Butterfly Park. White Post Farms of Melville at 250 Old Country Rd is one of the children attractions around. Schools that serve the town are St. Pius V School, Sunquam Elementary School, and West Hollow Middle School. Churches within the hamlet include Presbyterian Church of Sweet Hollow, King of Kings Lutheran Church, Greater New York Lecet, Our Lady of Grace of Dix Hills,  and Lower Melville Church.
