Cold Spring Harbor is a hamlet and census-designated place in the town of Huntington, Suffolk County, New York,USA on the north shore of Long Island. It has a total area of 3.9 square miles (10 km2), of which 3.7 square miles (9.6 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), or 4.86% is water.
The hamlet sits to the east of Huntington as well as being located south of Lloyd Harbor, north of West Hills and east of Laurel Hollow.
NY 25A becomes Harbor Rd as it enters Cold Spring it runs around the northern border covering a distance of about 2.58 mi (4.15 km) from the western border heading towards the Town of Huntington. Harbor Rd splits into two major roads the other one being Lawrence Hills Rd which goes into a straight pathway meeting Harbor Rd towards the end of the eastern border. Woodbury Rd is also accessible from the eastern border intersection which leads towards southwest with a distance of about 2.38 mi (3.83 km).
Along the Main St are some notable attractions such as The Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor in 301 Main St, Cold Spring Harbor Firehouse Museum in 84 Main St, Cold Spring Harbor State Park in 95 Harbor Rd and Uplands Farm Sanctuary by The Nature Conservancy in 250 Lawrence Hill Rd, Preservation Long Island in 161 Main St, Main Street Historic District (Cold Spring Harbor, New York) in 170-188 Main St. Cold Spring Harbor Fish Hatchery & Aquarium right at the western border. The Anne Brower School 50 Lawrence Hill Rd and East Side School at 4 Pond Field Ct are the only schools.
