Shampooing a carpet was a popular cleaning method from way back until the ’70s. Although, surprisingly we still get asked by clients if their carpets will be shampooed.

Carpet shampoo cleaning is now generally regarded as an outdated cleaning method. Thanks to the introduction of deep steam cleaning or hot water extraction which offers a much quicker drying period than the former. This makes it almost an impossible to find a company that still does carpet shampooing.

Deep steam cleaning is considered a much better method in a lot of aspects. Lightweight machinery is used making it more accessible for general use. The drying time is also significantly faster as it only uses steam compared to shampooing which would soak the carpet with shampoo layers that would then require thorough rinsing.

After all the whole cleaning process, you will still notice a sticky feeling left on the carpet due to the residue that the soap left over.

Dust and dirt will stick to this reside which would someday require a more intense cleaning which is counter-productive. Not to mention the chemicals of the shampoo will, later on, create a yellowish stain to the carpet.

With the presence of better methods, shampoo cleaning is almost never used. Unless it’s the worst carpet situation like those really heavy stains, mud, and practically black looking carpets. And the carpet has been like this for years.

While the above example could be a reason to call for carpet shampooing. It is still undeniable that deep steam cleaning can still effectively restore carpets even of this state.
