One of our trustees presented us with watercolor miniatures by Richard W. Ochs, a famous painter and a watercolor miniature by Richard W. Ochs, which are now on display in the Museum. A beautiful, gilded art form that was once known as "cigar box" art is as rare as it gets. It's a treasured look at a bygone age.
Artist Katie Seiden has made a collection of "found objects" that are based on the traditional south Pacific islander's staff, referred to as "Fous". You are going to be able to discover the beauty of the objects that we throw away every day in our society when you take a second look at them.
A beautiful collection of vintage fans, hair combs, and hundred year old greeting cards adorn the museum's walls and are remarkably pristine despite their age. Residents of Sea Cliff have brought their Bakelite bags and beautiful hammered aluminum items from their home and brought collectibles of PEZ dispensers. Their collection of rugs beaters is quite unique, and they have an assortment of very old bottles found in a Sea Cliff backyard in immaculate condition.
Among the mysteries that existed at the Sea Cliff Village Museum was created by an unknown donor who stumbled upon a large number of printer blocks that were used to print photographs of Sea Cliff events, buildings, people, and organizations. There is no one who knows for sure how these blocks came to be found in the museum. Their origin remains a mystery. In addition to the photos in the museum's collection as well as logos and maps of the village, many of the blocks also depict photos from the museum's collection.
The Sea Cliff Village Museum has a large collection of Bibles that you can check out. There are numerous Bibles around that approach or exceed the 200 year old mark, but only one, dated 1807, stands out from all the others.
